There are many words I could use to identify myself- wife, daughter, mom, brain cancer survivor, pastor, MS patient, but there is only one way to describe myself that weaves a thread to connect and impact them all… I am a follower of Christ. However, I hesitate to use those words so that there is no misunderstanding. The words are not meant to be a title, or to be something that I have achieved.
When I say I am a follower of Christ, I’m talking about an ongoing process. One that goes beyond just a head knowledge of God, but continues to make Him the priority in my life, so that my heart is being transformed to be more and more like Him. And only then can the work of my hands and all that I do point others to His goodness and His glory. It is an every day journey, sometimes filled with struggles and challenges, but always overflowing with peace. When I say I am a follower of Christ, it is to point to the One who leads the way, in hopes that I’m always walking steadily towards Him everyday and in every way.
